On Saturday a spokesperson for the King County prosecutor’s office said that the semi-driver had been released from jail pending results of toxicology reports.

Two people in a passenger car were killed and five others injured near milepost 51, just west of the Snoqualmie Pass summit. All lanes of westbound Interstate 90 were blocked most of the day. WSDOT first reported the crash around 6:15 a.m. The road reopened around 3 p.m.

Two semis appeared to be involved in the crash. Trooper Chris Webb later said one of the semi drivers was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault. That person was driving a semi truck used to transport multiple vehicles.

Webb said a trooper who is a drug recognition expert contacted the driver of that semi and later determined that the driver was under the influence of drugs. The collision is being investigated as a single crash, troopers said.
