According to The Seattle Times, Seattle police officers are conducting an increased amount of traffic stops this holiday season. A driver who was pulled over for a traffic violation by police Tuesday night only made matters worse by trying to snort cocaine during the traffic stop, Seattle police said, and was caught on the officers dash camera.

The 73-year-old man was pulled over about 8:30 p.m. near Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Massachusetts Street after an officer spotted him driving without his lights on, police said.

After checking the man’s license and registration, the officer walked back to the man’s Toyota just in time to see him pouring cocaine from a small glass vial, according to police.

The officer knocked on the driver’s window, startling the man and causing him to spill cocaine on his hands and the floor of the Toyota, police said.

“Are you kidding?” the officer asked the man, who initially denied having cocaine, police said. The man claimed he had only “vitamins,” according to police. The man eventually admitted that he had been snorting cocaine in the middle of the traffic stop, police said.

Officers arrested the man and booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of drug possession.
