According to Komo News, a Sammamish woman was sentenced to more than 6 years in prison or a crash in May 2014 that killed her husband and son-in-law and seriously injured her daughter.
The woman was sentenced to 73 months in prison. She will also be required to serve 18 months of community custody once she’s released from prison and obey several other conditions related to alcohol use.
Investigators determined that she was drunk and under the influence of Ambien when she drove an SUV through her Sammamish home with her grandson on her lap. Her grandson was not hurt.
She pleaded guilty to several charges earlier this year as part of a deal with prosecutors. She was ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device. She was placed back in jail in mid October after she violated the terms of her release by drinking alcohol over a several day period, prosecutors said.
She stood quiet in court and visibly fought back tears as her lawyers read a prepared statement on her behalf. In it, she took responsibility for her actions and apologized for the pain and suffering she caused.
