According to The Seattle Sun Times, King County deputies will be targeting speeding, street racing, and drunken driving offenders under the supplemental funding that was approved last week.
Metropolitan King County Council approved the funds for additional traffic enforcement by sheriff’s deputies to target speeding problems in various areas of the county.
The Seattle Times stated that the $100,000 in additional funding will go toward deputy salaries for increased patrols in school zones and in areas where speeding and driving under the influence are particular problems.
Extra patrols will target impaired drivers and street racing on the Green River Road in Southeast King County, between Black Diamond and Covington. Additional patrols to prevent speeding and unsafe driving will also be assigned to the area around Kentlake High School.
