Auburn Official Arrested for DUI in City-Owned Car

According to Komo News, an Auburn city employee was arrested Monday for allegedly driving under the influence in a city-owned vehicle.

Police arrested the man at around 2 a.m. in the area of SE 304th and 112th Street, according to the Auburn Police Department.

The driver, who has worked for the city for nine years, was booked into jail and has since been charged with driving under the influence. He was released from jail after a Tuesday court appearance.

Auburn Mayor Nancy Backus placed the man on administrative leave following the arrest, according to the mayor’s office.

The Washington Cities Insurance Authority is conducting an internal investigation into the incident.
