1 Hurt as Car Collides with Link Light Rail Train in S. Seattle

According to Komo News, a car crashed into a Sound Transit Link light rail train in South Seattle.

The accident happened around 11 a.m. on Monday April 20th where the light rail tracks intersect at 7150 Martin Luther King Way S, knocking a light pole over on top of the car as well.

Firefighters were able to free the driver from the mangled wreckage after about 15 minutes and load him into an ambulance.  He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of minor injuries, according to Seattle Fire officials.

A witness told Komo News that he saw another car nearly get hit by a northbound train moments before, and then as he was relaying the near-miss to friends, he heard a crash and saw the southbound train had collided with another car.

The crash disrupted some Link light rail service in South Seattle for part of Monday afternoon but full service was restored just after 3 p.m.

Seattle Police haven’t said yet exactly what led up to the crash.
