Heavy Snow and Spinouts Make Mess on I-90 Through Snoqualmie Pass

The season’s first big snowfall has come to Snoqualmie Pass, and it is causing quite the mess.

According to Komo News, several spinouts forced DOT officials to close I-90 from milepost 47 on the west side of the pass to Ellensburg on the east side during the evening rush this past Friday due to spinoffs and collisions.

Eastbound lanes reopened just after 5:30 p.m., and westbound lanes reopened by 6:20 p.m., WSDOT officials said.

Behind the closure points, traffic was backed up for miles.

Snow is expected to continue to fall overnight with a Snow Advisory in effect for both Snoqualmie Pass and Stevens Pass for as much as 8 new inches of snow.

DOT crews have about 15 snow plows plowing and blowing the snow off the road to try and get it clear.
