DUI Crash into Beacon Hill Tree Leaves Woman Critically Injured

According to the Seattle PI, a woman suffered life-threatening injuries after a man crashed into a tree on Beacon Hill. The driver of the car, believed to be drunk at the time, was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault.

Police responded to a report at 10:18 p.m. that a vehicle had crashed into a tree at Beacon Avenue South and South Holden Street, according to police reports. The 45-year-old driver was not injured, but the female passenger was critically injured. She was intubated and taken to Harborview Medical Center with possible head and internal injuries, reports say. Police reported that the driver smelled of alcohol and had watery bloodshot eyes. He was arrested and booked into King County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide. A blood sample was taken and will be tested by a toxicologist.
