According to the Seattle Times, southbound I-5 collector-distributor to I-90 will be reduced to one lane through the weekend while construction crews replace aging expansion joints.
The lanes, as well as James and Spring streets on-ramps to the collector-distributor will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers will follow a signed detour.
Though the closure is not on the main southbound I-5 lanes, downtown Seattle traffic will be congested as exiting drivers merge into one lane.
In tough traffic situations as these, anything from small fender-benders to large scale car collisions are bound to occur.
