Man Sentenced to 40 Years After Seventh DUI

According to CBS News, a 42-year-old southwest Idaho man with seven convictions for driving under the influence has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Police pulled over the Idaho man on March 17, 2014.  A warrant leading to a blood draw found that he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.287, well over the 0.08 limit for Idaho.

He pleaded guilty to felony DUI in June.  Authorities say this is his fifth felony DUI and his seventh lifetime DUI.

Judge Molly J. Huskey deemed the man a persistent violator, allowing for stricter sentencing.  Prosecutor Bryan Taylor says the repeated crimes mean he’s too dangerous to be allowed on the streets.
