Driver in Custody After Deadly Crash in Puyallup

According to King 5 News, a 41-year-old man died Thursday night in Puyallup after being hit by a car at the busy intersection of River Road and North Meridian.

Police say that a 64-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide. Investigators believe that he was impaired by narcotics, speeding, and driving recklessly in the moments leading up to the crash.

Police say the suspect ran a red light and hit the pedestrian as he walked through a crosswalk. The suspect then went on to hit two parked cars, hopped a curb, then hit a third car and pushed it into a fourth vehicle, a pick-up truck, before finally coming to a stop several hundred yards away.

The victim died at the scene. Police state that he worked at the Ford car dealership on River Road and was returning to work when he was hit and killed.
