  • Residential Burglaries: Protect your home from a break-in by being extra cautious about locking doors and windows when you leave your house or apartment, leave exterior lights on after dark, don’t leave gifts where they can be seen from a window or doorway, avoid leaving packages on the front door, and be wary of strangers soliciting for charitable donations.
  • Online Shopping Scams: Protecting your personal information should be your top priority while making online purchases. Never purchase merchandise from unknown sites or vendors and stick with well-known, reputable retailers.
  • Thefts from Vehicles & Stolen Cars: Thefts from vehicles can occur year-round, but thieves often take advantage of the holiday shopping season to steal presents, purses, and expensive electronics from unsuspecting motorists. Remember to keep your vehicle’s doors locked and windows closed and never leave any valuables in plain view. To prevent someone from stealing your vehicle, never leave your car running at home or in parking lots, even if you will only be gone a few minutes.
  • Shopping & Parking Lot Safety: Shop before dark, if possible, and never park in an unlit area, no matter how convenient it is. Remember to get your keys ready before leaving the store and don’t allow yourself to be distracted in the parking lot.
